Finnish national team had totally different game against Austria than the opening game against Czech Republic. When against Czech Finland was strong at the beginning of the game, against Austria the result was made in the last period.

Finland won 9-3 and in the last period´s first three and a half minute Finland  scored four goals.

 

 

”Austria´s goalie was excellent but we thought that he cannot have strength to continue such a massive amount of saves during the whole game and actually that happened in the last period. We made the needed goals”, told the Finnish headcoach Jarmo Sinisalo.

Last Year Austria was seventh in the World Championships and also then Austria kept the game against Finland very equal during the first two periods. ”We skated very well during the whole game, but the scoring was problematic at the beginning”, said Sinisalo.

Austria´s goalie Schiller saved 41 times before he left the game at the time 38.55.

The other match in the group B was between Sweden and Czech Republic. Czechs were much more ready to the game than against Finland. Despite of that fact Sweden won 5-4. At the end of the game Czechs took the goalie out and tried to equalize the game with five players but they didn´t score with powerplay and Czechs has now two losses.
