 Sweden played very controlled and maybe the preassure infront of the almost 3000 spectators was too much for Finland. Sweden won the inline hockey World Championship by beating Finland 4-2.
Already the first period showed that both teams was concentrating on their defence and not letting the emotions take such a role than in these teams first meeting in preliminary round. Then there was totally 30 penalties. Now both teams took one penalty in the first period and also one goal was made. Sweden played strongly infront of the Finnish goal and after a couple of shoots made the first goal by Anders Luukkonen. In the second period Sweden succeeded to make 2-0 lead in the second minute of the period. The scorer was Daniel Wessner. Sweden was stronger in man to man playing and Finns didnīt have such strong offencive playing which was seen in the previous matches. In the third perios Sweden went already 3-0 lead before Finland managed to score its first goal. The goal was made by Jussi Eloranta. Sweden didnīt got nervous about Finnish goal and they succeeded to make one more on power play in the end of the period. That ment that Sweden was leading 4-1 before the fourth period. In the last period Finland made only one goal though they tried several moments without goalie by five players. That meant gold medals for Sweden, silver to Finland and bronze to USA.
